The Altitude Design Summit is the event that puts together lots of design, lifestyle, photography and fashion experts to discuss and share good´n creative advice. This year the event happened between 18-21 of January in Salt Lake City.

I love to read the after-summit comments.

I´ve just seen, at The Diplomat´s Wife blog, the “15 Things I Should Have Packed for Alt” list and decided to share here:
(Some of the things came 100% from the blog, some I edited a little)

1 – Tule Branco: Os “jantares de branco” trouxeram muita criatividade e o tule branco foi muitas vezes o coringa de várias produções. A lição a ser tirada é que o tule não é uma peça de fantasia e pode fazer parte da moda. A dica é: se for participar de um desses encontros, e estiver na dúvida de vestir algo que acha duvidoso, vista! Você se sentirá em casa.

1. White tutus: The much talked about “Diner en Blanc” brought out lots of creativity for white outfits and tutus were front and center several times.  Actually, I’ve made tutus several times for assorted costumes in the past, but I should have known that at Alt, the tutu is not a costume, it’s a serious fashion piece.  If you’re on the fence about something creative to bring, just bring it.  You’ll be at home here.

2- Jeans Coloridos: Se você já se perguntou onde as pessoas usam calças de cores primárias combinadas com blusas listradas ou de uma cor primária oposta, agora você já sabe. Dificilmente alguém erraria usando uma produção colorida no Alt Summit.

2. Colored denim: Have you gotten the recent J.Crew catalog and wondered in what world do people wear jeans of one primary color paired with a striped top of another opposite primary color?  In this world.  Generally, you can’t go wrong with color at Alt Summit.

3 – Poá: Assim como qualquer outro tipo de padronagem, não dá para errar com o poá. Esta foi a estampa campeã no evento, mas oncinha, leopardo, xadrez elistras navy, são sempre uma boa pedida. Não tenha medo de usar duas ou três estampas ao mesmo tempo!

3.  Polka Dots: Same with patterns, you can’t go wrong with that – base layer, over layer…any layer.  Polka dots were a winner this year, but so was leopard, cheetah, plaid, and the classic mariniere stripe.  And don’t be afraid of wearing two patterns at once.  And why not three?

4 – Entusiasmo e atitude positiva: Nunca é demais. Certo?

4.  Enthusiasm and a positive spirit:  It´s never too much, right? Take wherever you go.

5 – Botas: Sempre tenha mais de uma opção. Este tipo de evento merece muitas opções…

5.  Boots:  Don’t hesitate to give yourself options – on the fence about bringing this or that? This is one event where you can bring both.  You’re going to have to check luggage anyway.

6- Cartões de Visita: Com tanta gente interessante, você com certeza vai distribuir vários e receber muitos diferentes em troca.

6.  Business Cards: With so many interesting people around, you´ll definitely give many away and receive many more in return.

7- Óculos: Quanto maior, melhor!

7.  Glasses: The bigger the better!

8- Seu Smartphone: Ok, a sugestão era o iPhone, mas não vamos ser tão específicos. Todo bom blogueiro anda sempre plugado em uma dessas coisinhas…(Também é ótimo para disfarçar, em um desses momentos intimidantes).

8.  Your iphone:  Duh.  It doubles as a functional tool (tweets! stats! information superhighway!) but also something to hide behind when you’re feeling a bit intimidated.  I had mine but for next year, I definitely need a new case.

9- Calças Brilhantes: Cores, estampas…só porque você não veste nada disso para trabalhar, não significa que não pode usar nunca (ou em um desses eventos)!

9.  Bright tights:  Colors…patterns…different colors for different outfits – just because you can’t get away with them in your day job, doesn’t mean you can’t wear them to Alt.

10- Tops de paetês ou bordados: Perfeito para o Alt. O que fica melhor com cereais ás 7 da manhã?
10.  Sequined or beaded tops: Sequins are never out of place at Alt. At any time of the day.  What goes better with oatmeal in a hotel lobby at 7 am on a Thursday than sequins?

11- Vestidos retrô de renda: Especialmente broncos para os” jantares de branco”.

11.  Vintage lace dresses: Lots of these and especially in white for the white party.

12- Colete de pele falso: Na verdade prefiro ignorar essa opção, pois como uma defensora dos direitos dos animais, não acho muito legal estimular nem mesmo o uso de pele falsa.
12.  Faux fur vests: I actually prefer to jump this step, as I am an animal rights activist, I don´t think it´s nice to stimulate the use of fur, even the fake ones.

13- Coque de rosquinha: Lindo e delicado.
13.  The sock bun: Beautiful and very lady like.

14- Batom vermelho ou coral.
14.  Red or coral lipstick.

15- Calças com Brilho: Como já deu pra perceber, nesse evento tudo é bem vindo, vale ousar e vestir tudo aquilo que você nunca achou que fosse possível.

15.  Glitter hotpants: See items 1-14.  If there is anything that is clear about Alt is that you can pretty much bring/wear/do anything.
